The body speaks, it’s a matter of you listening. We all posses an intricate energetic body housed within our physical body. Every aspect of our being- cells, atoms, and neurons – are in communication with each other constantly. In fact, our physical form happens to be composed of energy, just a denser form.

“A symptom is the body’s way of telling you that something is off balance.”

Stress can compromise the circuitry systems (the nervous system, for example) and create a chronic breakdown of communication with the “bodymind complex”. For example: if you’ve been putting your body through its paces while training without an opportunity to fully recover, or if you’ve been under additional stresses you may be depleting your energy reserves to the point that your body goes haywire.

There are two ways energy impacts the body:

  1. Physical – compromised immunity, adrenal fatigue, autoimmune diseases, skin issues, digestive issues, hormone depletion, injuries etc….
  2. Emotional – depression, unresolved/suppressed anger, unhealthy boundaries, the emotional impact of losing a loved one, worry from not being in control. The list goes on…

When we begin internalizing our emotions, which are energy just as thoughts are, they begin to manifest in various ways. Most commonly physical form, worry = gut issues, anxiety = heart/chest issues, anger = back associated issues. Our body is signaling that there are energetic blockages forming and calling out for them to be acknowledged and addressed. Popping a pill and going on with your day isn’t a cure and it doesn’t address the root cause of your body’s dis-ease. To do so, you may need to change your routine, fuel your body differently, pare down your training load, or in some cases walk away from training altogether – at least for awhile.

You can only make wellness gains when your body/mind has time to fully recover. That means the harder you push in training or in daily life, the more strategic you must be in allowing your body to recharge not only it’s energy stores, but also your mental focus.

Stepping back allows you to tune in, rebalance your body chemistry, reduce stress, and recharge your mental batteries. You then start fresh, with a more positive outlook on what you want to accomplish.

So, here’s your inspiration, should you need it. Have you been outside today? This week? Have you spent time just soaking up the sunshine without your trusty phone as a sidekick? Maybe you’ve skipped a workout and are curled up on the balcony or back porch with a book?

Find a way to relax for a few minutes, restore your body/mind and flourish!
